Smartbox acquires leading German assistive technology company REHAVISTA
Smartbox Asssistive Technology creates software and hardware to help disabled people across the world communicate and live more independently.
Smartbox commemorated its 15th year in business this year following a strong period of growth, and has just announced the acquisition REHAVISTA, of one of the largest suppliers of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) solutions in Germany. The acquisition will bring together the expertise of more than 250 clinicians, educators and assistive technology specialists known for their unparalleled levels of service, support and training.
Working together, REHAVISTA will have direct impact on the development of Smartbox’s market leading assistive technology products built on the Grid AAC platform. In joining forces and sharing knowledge, ideas and expertise, both businesses feel they can better serve customers and influence greater awareness and understanding of AAC around the world. Both companies have a shared vision; where everyone can participate in society regardless of cognitive or physical disability, that communication is life and everyone has the right to it.
Operationally, REHAVISTA will continue to be its own company, retaining its current leadership, structure and brand, serving customers throughout Germany. Smartbox will carry on operating as it does now, working hard to develop products that help people communicate and live more independently by utilising the latest advances in technology.
“We are thrilled to now be working so closely with our REHAVISTA colleagues. This closer relationship means we can deliver much more together. With their wealth of clinical knowledge and insight and our commitment to research, development and customer care, our customers are receiving the very best AAC support and products. We are here to help people have a voice and greater independence. We now have the opportunity to learn from each other and achieve more for the people our organisations exist to serve.” said Dougal Hawes, Managing Director, Smartbox Assistive Technology.
“The REHAVISTA family has been searching for a partner to develop itself and the German AAC market for a few years. The Smartbox welcomed us and quickly showed us how agile and responsive they are. It became clear as our partnership developed how close our cultures were and their importance to both teams. We are extremely positive that over the coming years we will be able to develop and adapt new products and services within the German market; to serve our clients and help them prosper and participate in society.” said Juergen Kohl, Managing Director, REHAVISTA.
