Slow your speed! Local housebuilder partners with Spennymoor school to design posters for Road Safety Week
Local housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, has teamed up with primary school students in Spennymoor to help raise awareness of road safety.
As part of Road Safety Week which took place last week, the five star housebuilder invited year 6 students from Ox Close Primary School to design road posters for the entrance at its nearby Burton Woods development.
Encouraging awareness amongst students and local drivers, the posters have been designed to highlight the dangers of driving too fast on residential roads and to encourage drivers to slow down. Three student designs will be chosen and displayed as signs at the entrance to the local development.
Natalie Donnelly, Sales Manager at Burton Woods said “We’re really pleased with the children’s posters and we’re looking forward to making them into road signs for Burton Woods. We hope the children’s road signs will make drivers in the area consider their speed and help keep children safe from speeding cars.”
Lisa Payne, Key Stage 2 Leader at Ox Close Primary School, added “The children really enjoyed designing their road signs for Barratt. The activity encouraged them to be aware of speeding drivers and to take care when crossing the road. We can’t wait to find out who’s posters have been selected and to see the final signs take pride of place at Burton Woods.”
Barratt Homes’ Burton Woods is a popular development amongst beautiful surroundings, offering a great range of two, three and four bedroom homes. Priced from £126,995, prospective buyers can reserve their new home with a reduced reservation fee of £99 for a limited time or trade their current property in for a new home using the housebuilder’s own Part Exchange scheme.
