Wellness Support for Worker Facing Festive Challenges
Not everyone has the opportunity for a fun filled festive period, the Christmas season can also be the source of huge challenges for many.
That’s why pitched roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles is providing mental health support for all of its 150 staff during the Christmas break.
According to YouGov a quarter of the population finds Christmas more challenging than the rest of the year. Feeling stressed in December is common, with more than two in five saying people saying they’ve experienced it. Anxiety has affected three in ten, while a quarter have felt depressed.
To help support anyone finding the festive period a challenge the company is investing in Wellness life coaching, which is the first part of Russell Roof Tiles dedicated programme to support its team’s mental health and wellbeing this includes an individual private session.
Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) is the largest independent manufacturer of concrete derivatives in the UK pitched roofing market and employs approx. 150 staff including at three sites in Burton on Trent and Lochmaben (Scotland).
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “This has been a tough period for everyone and Christmas can be even tougher so it’s important we support all of our staff. The wellbeing of our staff is essential if they are in work or out, so we’re pleased to be provide support by way of expert advice and counselling. “As a business we’ve had team members directly affected by mental health troubles and we need to support them, now that mental health is a much more open topic of conversation and no one needs to be ashamed or embarrassed it’s important we tackle the issue head on.”
The Samaritans also regularly reports record levels of calls during December – around half a million across the month, peaking at over 10,000 on Christmas Day. Among the main issues raised by callers to the Samaritans on December 25 itself is bereavement.
