Tree-mendous Gesture of Good Will from Nottingham Funeral Directors this Festive Season

A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service is showing its support to its local communities by donating 92 Christmas trees to churches across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire after what has been a difficult year for parishes with many having to close as a result of the pandemic.

The Christmas tree donation is a tradition the family-run funeral directors have upheld for over 70 years, to spread festive joy and bring together the communities served by its 27 funeral homes across the region. Historically the trees were donated to the inner-city Nottingham parishes, but this year the area was extended as a mark of respect after what has been a difficult year of lockdowns and closures.

On receiving the donation, Lydia Cartwright, Team Rector at Clifton Parish, said: “We really are incredibly grateful to have received this thoughtful donation from A.W. Lymn. As soon as the tree was delivered, we couldn’t wait to decorate it in time for all the school visits, Christmas services and events that we have coming up over the festive period.”

The 92 Christmas trees are grown in Scotland and delivered via carrier to each Church.

On why Lymns has kept the tradition going for long, Jackie Lymn Rose, Director and fourth generation at A.W. Lymn, said: “Giving back to our local communities is incredibly important to us as a family business. Having funeral homes in so many areas in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, it’s important to stay connected to the church communities that we serve and show our thanks for all the amazing work they do.

“The pandemic has had a real impact on the Church, with sadly many having to close over the past 18 months. We hope this donation helps to bring our local parishes and communities together as they decorate the trees in readiness for all the festive activities, celebrations and services.”

The fifth-generation family business has been helping the bereaved for more than 110 years, with quality of service and value for money at the heart of its ethos.
