IoD launches search for Coventry and Warwickshire chair

The Institute of Directors (IoD) is to recruit a new chair for its Coventry and Warwickshire branch, as Dean Kavanagh steps down from the role.

The IoD creates connections, delivers professional development courses and influences policy makers at the highest levels. The successful candidate will support local directors to rebuild and thrive following a challenging two years dealing with the pandemic.

Dean was appointed to the role in 2019, succeeding David Trevis-Smith. He is managing director of environmental technology solutions provider QED Environmental Systems and a two-time winner at the IoD Director of the Year Awards. Dean achieved the IoD’s coveted Chartered Director status in 2018.

Inez Brown, chair of IoD West Midlands, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Dean for his leadership of the branch, at a time that has forced all of us in business to adapt and change amid ongoing uncertainty. He will be a hard act to follow.

“Our new chair will help Coventry and Warwickshire directors to get the government support and skills they need to fulfil their potential, whilst promoting the highest standards of corporate governance.”

The voluntary position is open to all IoD members who live or work in the area. Applicants must have a demonstrable track record in board or equivalent roles, with established business interests and a strong network of local contacts.

IoD members range from start-up entrepreneurs to directors of large SMEs and international companies, as well as the public and third sectors. The Institute has secured vital support for directors during the pandemic, including financial assistance for wage bills and changes to insolvency rules.
