The Inn Collection Group further expands with North Yorkshire hotel & spa acquisition

National law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has acted on the sale of the Dower House Hotel & Spa in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire between previous owners Ashdale UK Ltd and the expanding Inn Collection Group.

This follows a string of acquisitions and openings conducted by the Inn Collection Group in 2021, including the opening Sunderland’s Seaburn Inn, as well refurbishments for both the Temperance Inn in Ambleside and the Pheasant Inn in Bassenthwaite.

The Dower House, owned by Ashdale since 2008, boasts 38 bedrooms as well as a spa and swimming pool, and will add to the Inn Collection Group’s portfolio as part of its expansion into Yorkshire.

The Inn Collection Group’s managing director Sean Donkin said: “We are excited to be growing our foothold in Yorkshire with the addition of The Dower House and Spa. It is a tremendous site, steeped in character and history in a stunning destination location.

“As an established brand in the North East and West of England, we are looking to increase our presence and customer base here in Yorkshire, with our proven offering of food-driven pubs with quality accommodation.”

Kim Klahn, a partner in the corporate team at Clarke Willmott, led on the deal. She said: “It was a pleasure to work with Ashdale to finally complete this long running transaction.”

Martin Wicks, director of Ashdale, said: “We are pleased to have completed the sale of Dower House to the Inn Collection Group, and hope the new owners will enjoy her as much as we have over the last 15 years.

“Thank you to Kim Klahn and the team at Clarke Willmott who worked diligently to get the deal over the line.”

Kim Klahn was supported on the deal by solicitor Raksha Aggarwal and associate David Lovelock who dealt with property matters.
