Miller Homes North East Raises £6500 for St Oswald's Hospice
A FUNDRAISING effort by kind-hearted employees at Miller Homes North East has seen them raise a staggering £6500 for St Oswald’s Hospice in Gosforth.
The Miller Homes North East team raised the money by taking part in a number of charity events throughout 2021, including putting their best foot forward for March in March and organising a raffle with prizes donated by a range of local businesses. Members of the Miller Homes team also dug out their hiking boots and walked a combined total of 2801 miles for Walktober, adding £2801 towards the St Oswald’s Hospice donation.
Patrick Arkle, regional managing director at Miller Homes North East, said: “As a business, it is very important to us that we support the communities in which we operate and where we build new homes. Organising and taking part in the fundraising activities has been a real team building experience for us, especially after working apart from each other for so long. I am very proud of the amount of money that has been raised for a worthy charity but seeing the enthusiasm of the team and their commitment do investing in our community has really been a fantastic end to the year.
“We would like say a particular thank you to our partners in the region who were incredibly generous with their contributions to our fundraising efforts. Esh Construction alone donated a fantastic £250 to our cause and a wide range of donations for the raffle.” St Oswald’s Hospice is a local charitable hospice helping people who have life-limiting conditions to make the most of life, no matter how long that life is. Rooted in the North East, the charity has supported local people and their families for over 35 years. Specialist and expert care is free of charge to babies, children, young people, adults and their families.
Alongside the donation to St Oswald’s Hospice, the Miller Homes on site teams have also been supporting causes close to their hearts across the region. The Barley Meadows team in Cramlington raised £350 in their own time for Hebburn Helps, to help struggling families buy Christmas presents and food over the school holidays. Hebburn Helps Community Food Bank and Crisis Response Team is a Voluntary Community Organisation that was set up to help local families who are finding it hard and are struggling to make ends meet. While over in North Shields, the Miller Homes North East team delivered some festive cheer to the pupils at Norham High School with a Christmas gift of £250 in vouchers to buy Christmas party snack and treats for the pupils.
