Climate for change as Ringwood business launches #ConserveATree pledge

As global leaders and thinkers continue to debate the best approach to tackling climate change, one Ringwood business is exploring what it can do to make a difference closer to home, or indeed, closer to homes.

Green Space UK, which specialises in transforming conservatories with insulated roofing panels, is preparing to launch a campaign to help plant over 2500 trees in 2022.

The project, dubbed #ConserveATree is the idea of husband and wife team Brennan Jacomb and Bea San-Jose, who have run the family business (employing over 100 people) since 2013.

Earlier this year, Green Space UK announced it had taken additional space at Crow Arch Industrial Estate to accommodate their expanding team and to free up storage space for their insulated conservatory roof panels - the third warehouse facility for the business on the site.

This was swiftly followed by the opening of a new facility in Rugby, Warwickshire. That acquisition helped them to serve their customers across the Midlands but also reduced the volume of fuel being consumed, sending installers to the Midlands from Ringwood every day.

The next step, according to Brennan Jacomb, was to see what they could do to mitigate their carbon footprint further, as the business continues to expand in terms of customers, geographical reach and staff.

Brennan explains;

We know that for many people, conservatories are often too warm in summer and too cold in winter. We also know that one of the biggest reasons customers partner with us is that they are seeking to save on their energy bills and lower their consumption.

Thankfully, our panels provide far superior insulation for a room that is traditionally a real challenge to regulate in terms of temperature and energy loss. We know our products are playing a part in tackling climate change but we thought we could do more. So we are now pledging to plant a tree for every installation we complete next year and that should be pretty significant - we’re talking somewhere between 2,500 and 2750 trees on current projections.

Whilst many businesses have been impacted by the pandemic, GreenSpace has continued to grow, with new installers being recruited across the country and 8 new recruits joining the office-based support team in the summer.

The business was started in 2013 by husband and wife team Brennan Jacomb and Bea San-Jose, growing from a small, local business, to a nationwide market leader in conservatory roof panel replacements.

Since then, the family run business has grown from 6 employees to over 100 in the space of eight years. Along with Brennan and Bea, quotation scheduler Alan Walton and quotation surveyor Gareth Pitman have been with the firm since day one.

GreenSpace works with customers who want to keep their conservatory warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer by fitting solid, insulated roofs. This has been made much simpler due to the relaxation of planning laws which means it is often possible to do so without planning permission.

Ultimately, this leads to a room that is usable and more enjoyable all year round.

Green Space UK currently has vacancies in administration, marketing and sales, customer service, conservatory roof installation and surveying.
