Showhome Specialist Completes First Scottish Scheme

An interior design firm specialising in show homes and sales centres for housebuilders has completed its first series of installations in Scotland.

Birmingham-based Edward Thomas Interiors has designed and installed two show homes for Balfour Beatty Homes at their Westfield development in West Calder. Both four bedroom, detached properties, Edward Thomas Interiors’ styling is designed to appeal to a wide range of purchasers who aspire to the town and country lifestyle on offer in this traditional Scottish village.

“West Calder is only 18 miles southwest of Edinburgh so house hunters are likely to be those looking for a bit more space and nature on their doorstep yet still easily connected to everything an urban city centre offers,” explains Steve Hird, director at Edward Thomas Interiors. “Our styling has tried to emulate this and showcase how different families might use the space. For instance, the Lewis has a very boho, industrial décor with materials, prints and furniture inspired by nature and being outdoors. Contrastingly, the Lismore features a more opulent, elegant design with bold colours and mirrored furniture to make a statement and somewhere to entertain. We hope potential purchasers enjoy viewing these show homes and spotting where we’ve taken inspiration from the local area such as the sweet shop and skate park.”

Edward Thomas Interiors has been delivering bespoke show homes for over six years but Westfield marks the first time the firm has worked in Scotland.

Steve continues: “Our work has taken us to all corners of England but this is the first time we’ve crossed the border so are really pleased to be expanding even further across the UK. In the past 18 months, house purchases have been one of the only places where people are confident investing, so we strive to provide as much inspiration as possible. This can be seemingly small hacks and tricks like using digitally printed wallpaper and accent colours for impact, or thinking about alternative uses for rooms and spaces, like the working from home station we created in the Lismore’s landing. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed completing these installations at Westfield and look forward to inspiring many more Scottish house hunters in the future.”

Gill Sabin, customer experience director at Balfour Beatty Homes added: “Westfield appeals to a diverse mix of house hunters who are attracted by the rural location yet close connections with the nearby town of Livingston and motorway network. The two show homes have been extremely well-received so far, and Edward Thomas Interiors has been able to effectively demonstrate their versatility and style to a high standard.”
