Liverpool firm ‘showing possibilities’ to developers by planting 50,000 trees in Amazon Rainforest
The firm partnered with Legacie Developments on the groundbreaking ELEMENT - The Quarter residential scheme, in which they bid to plant 100 trees for every unit sold in the new eco-development.
RWinvest set out to plant 45,000 trees to reforest the Amazon but have smashed their target, having already planted 49,900 trees as their work continues to offset carbon emissions in the industry.
ELEMENT - The Quarter is a pioneering eco-development on Low Hill and boasts a range of sophisticated eco-friendly features and low-carbon technologies, including a heat and rainwater recycling system, solar panels and energy-efficient lighting.
Award-winning firm RWinvest, which specialises in buy to let investments on prominent residential developments, has led the international sales drive on the project comprising 316 residential apartments plus purpose-built accommodation for 141 students and commercial units - which is being jointly delivered by Nexus Residential and Legacie Developments.
Michael Gledhill, director at RWinvest, says: “We are proud to be involved in the reforestation of one of the world’s most vital ecosystems by planting trees in the Amazon rainforest.
“The recent COP 26 summit in Glasgow highlighted the urgent need for action against climate change and by leading the way in eco-friendly construction, particularly in the North West region, RWinvest is showing the possibilities of a more environmentally conscious lifestyle.
“The popularity of ELEMENT - The Quarter shows how many people are making more eco-friendly investment decisions and we hope that developments like this will pave the way for the future of the UK construction industry.”
So far, a total of £51,467.18 ($69,500) has been donated by RWinvest to One Tree Planted, a non-profit organisation that aims to restore forests and support biodiversity around the world.
One Tree Planted forest campaign manager Ashley Lamontagne said: “We are thankful for the support of business partners like RWinvest, who are passionate about making a positive impact on the environment.
“The trees we will plant in the Amazon Rainforest will have lasting benefits for people, habitat, and climate.”
RWinvest has been working with One Tree Planted throughout 2021 to help plant trees within the world’s largest rainforest ecosystem, the Amazon Rainforest. Home to almost 30% of the plant and animal species on Earth, and a key carbon sink, protecting and restoring the Amazon is of the utmost importance.
RWinvest in partnership with One Tree Planted has helped to plant nearly 50,000 trees in the Amazon to protect the area’s bio-diverse primary forests and restore degraded land.
