This week’s round up of London appointments includes Nexus Planning, TotallyMoney, Lakestar, and PKF GM. Read on to find out more.

Sarah Roe - Nexus Planning

Independent planning and research consultancy Nexus Planning has appointed Sarah Roe as associate director to its London team.

As associate director of Nexus Planning London, Sarah will work alongside director and senior living sector lead Tim Spencer, charged with supporting the further development of the consultancy’s nationwide strengths in this specialist area, and using her broader expertise to support a cross-section of clients.

Joining from Strutt & Parker, Sarah brings an impressive wealth of experience spanning consultancy, developer and local authority sectors. Over the course of her career Sarah has established a strong specialism in senior living developments.

She has led on, and successfully negotiated, a number of major retirement living schemes including securing permission for a 90-bed care home for Signature Senior Lifestyle in Wandsworth and a 70-bed care home for Barchester in the Green Belt near Selby, Yorkshire.

Sam Gyimah - Lakestar

Lakestar, one of Europe’s leading venture capital firms, is today announcing new hire and a promotion in its London office. Sam Gyimah, former UK Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation and MP for East Surrey has joined Lakestar as a Venture Partner starting in February 2022.

Strengthening Lakestar’s London office, Sam brings a deep commitment to innovation, and a wealth of expertise from his experience working in Parliament and financial services.

His appointment comes at a time when understanding the legislative and regulatory landscape is crucial for investment decisions, as well as supporting some of the world’s most visionary founders to successfully scale their companies.

Currently a non-executive director at Goldman Sachs International, Sam also serves on the Board of Oxford University Innovation, the spinout arm of the University, that backed Oxford Nanopore and Vaccitech, the technology platform behind the Oxford AstraZeneca Covid-19 Vaccine.

Sam said: “Lakestar is a top tier fund with an enviable track record and a mission to help build a world-leading ecosystem in Europe. I’m proud to be joining such a talented and experienced team. In my role, I will be working closely with the next generation of founders to build great European tech champions.”

Rebecca Shears - TotallyMoney

TotallyMoney, the credit app that helps everyone move their finances forward, has appointed Rebecca Shears as its new Chief Marketing Officer.

Rebecca holds over 20 years’ experience in national and international marketing roles, working with global consumer brands including T-Mobile, HP, and global fintech payments company OFX.

More recently she was global chief marketing officer at BIMA, responsible for growing the healthcare and micro-insurance customer base in emerging markets, for the under-served communities in Africa and Asia.

At TotallyMoney, Rebecca will be responsible for honing the business’ positioning, driving forward its mission of “helping everyone move their finances forward, at a time when the rising cost of living is putting pressure on millions”.

Rebecca said: “TotallyMoney’s purpose-driven approach, which is truly embedded across the business, meant it was an extremely easy decision to join the team. It’s never been more important that people are supported and guided to understand and improve their financial situation, and that is what sits at the heart of TotallyMoney.”

Stratford Hamilton - PKF GM

PKF GM has announced the appointment of Stratford Hamilton. Stratford joins as a director in the London team specialising in contentious insolvency.

Stratford is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner a member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and the Fraud Advisory Panel He has spent over two decades undertaking personal and corporate insolvency appointments mainly associated with fraud and investigation.

He works with creditor groups and government bodies in investigative cases pursuing claims in order to recover funds on behalf of creditors in insolvent estates. Stratford also has specialist expertise in the telecoms and property investment industries.
