North East housebuilder set to build “high quality” homes on key Darlington site

Local housebuilder Story Homes has exchanged contracts on land at Berrymead Farm as it looks to bring more of its “high quality” homes to Darlington.

The land has been purchased from Northumbrian Land Ltd (NLL), a Yuill Group Company, which already has the principle of residential development secured via an earlier outline approval. Story Homes has submitted a reserved matters planning application for 102 new homes on the land, which will include 20 affordable homes.

Stuart Morgan, land director for Story Homes in the North East said: “We are happy to have exchanged contracts on the land at Berrymead Farm and look forward to the prospect of bringing more of our high quality homes to Darlington.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with NLL and their agent Ray Minto from Savills, both companies have an excellent reputation in the land market. Berrymead Farm is a key site for us in the region and we are looking forward to progressing this site through the planning process.”

“We are confident that the team at Story Homes will create a development that will enhance the local area and make the best use of the land, and we’re looking forward to seeing the plans come to fruition following the planning process.”

Story Homes’ proposals include a range of two to five-bedroom homes from the Story Collection, designed to suit the flexible living that people are looking for in a new home.

The scheme will deliver environmental benefits including the provision of a SUDS pond with associated biodiversity value, in addition to public open space, soft landscaping and tree lined streets.
