Lancashire standing desk company welcomes new sales and operations manager

A drive to encourage pupils to be more active in the classroom has led one Lancashire business to take on its first employee, as it deals with a surge in orders from schools.

I Want A Standing Desk (IWASD) was founded by Clitheroe entrepreneur Nick White and offers a range of standing desks for children and adults.

A milestone 500 primary schools are now using the company’s EIGER Student Standing Desks, which allow pupils to stand and move whilst they learn. As well as benefiting health and wellbeing, schools using them report seeing improvements in behaviour and concentration, especially among those pupils with ADHD and other neurodiverse conditions.

With interest growing, including among councils and local education authorities who are introducing them as part of special educational needs programmes, IWASD has achieved some of its highest sales figures to date.

To deal with increasing demand and help aid future expansion, the company has welcomed experienced sales manager Liv Pamphlett to the team. Liv joins with more than 10 years’ experience in sales and marketing, having previously headed up a sales team at a manufacturing company and currently running two of her own small businesses with her partner.

In her new role, Liv will be liaising with schools to arrange free trials of the desks, collating feedback and managing all subsequent orders. She will also be dealing with enquiries from businesses and individuals, researching new markets and helping to generate new business leads.

Nick White, founder of IWASD, said: “Working with our 500th school was a milestone moment for us and alongside the growth in orders we’ve been receiving from businesses and individuals, we’ve achieved some record sales months. So, the time was finally right to take on our first employee and Liv is already proving to be a real asset.”

Liv commented: “I actually came across EIGER standing desks in a previous role, as they were used in the offices there. When I spotted an opportunity to join the company, I thought it sounded like a really interesting place to work.

“There aren’t many roles where you feel like you are making a difference and that’s what I’m really enjoying about working at IWASD. The feedback from schools about the impact of the standing desks for their pupils, especially for those who were struggling before, is just incredible.”

The EIGER standing desks are manufactured just 10 minutes away from the company’s offices in Clitheroe and made from sustainable birch plywood. They can be placed on top of an existing surface and folded away when not in use, which the children are encouraged to do themselves.

Large numbers of Lancashire primary schools have successfully trialled the desks and are now using them every day, while local organisations including Lancashire County Council, Silverwoods Waste Management and Fresh Perspective Recruitment have invested in desks for their employees.
