Leeds based energy broker reclaims £30k for Yorkshire farm hit by energy tax

Tribe Energy Services, a Leeds based energy broker, has secured a reclaim of over £30k for a fellow Yorkshire based business, an amount reached over a four year period.

The reclaim is part of a government-imposed tax called Climate Change Levy. This is a tax charged to non-domestic energy consumers to encourage a reduction in emissions and greater efficiency of energy.

However, the tax, which is charged by the supplier, is calculated based upon usage, meaning industries such as farming, which typically consume large amounts of energy during their production are the hardest hit by the additional charge.

However, it is not commonly known that a reclaim of Climate Change Levy (CCL) charges can be made up to the value of 90 per cent, for the past 4 years.

Nick Simpson, founder and CEO of Tribe Energy Services, said: “Right now, energy costs are crippling businesses and are likely to have a difficult impact for some time to come, that’s why it is important to me, to support our clients when they need it most, pushing money back into their business to help invest and recover the economy.”

Annabel Makin-Jones, director of Annabel’s Deliciously British was the beneficiary of the hefty sum and described it as a “welcomed re-investment” into her long-established Yorkshire based Farm.

Annabel and the Makin family have diversified their business over their long-established history, from their renowned strawberries to recent developments into jams, honey, and botanically infused drinks, Tame and Wild.

On her partnership with Tribe Energy Services, Annabel commented: “Working with local businesses is important to me, but aside from this, Tribe made the process completely stress-free and I’m extremely grateful for the advice they gave and the results they produced.”

Nick added that he hopes this partnership will “be the first of many” and is extending his support to any business wishing to review their energy spending and billing.
