Intelligent self-service experts, 4 Roads, transforms knowledge sharing capabilities for Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
Intelligent self-service (ISS) experts, 4 Roads, has partnered with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to transform its global membership network and knowledge sharing capabilities through a new online community platform built on Verint Community.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology is a professional engineering institution which provides support and encourages the exchange of ideas between the global engineering community. Over 60,000 people in 150 countries rely on the IET to access information about vital engineering-related topics, including technical advice, regulatory information, and training courses.
While the existing IET community had been in place since 2012, poor site structure meant that content was hidden in silos, while the wider user experience clashed with key objectives like knowledge sharing, collaboration and engagement. As a result, content was only visible to a fraction of its membership.
4 Roads has completely revised the site structure and added key functionality to create a fully personalised experience. Now members see content relevant to their chosen interests via the new activity feed, general discussion forum and digest emails. This extends into a custom explore page where users can see site-wide content filtered by area of interest, including unanswered questions, blog posts and events.
Evanna Gale, Content and Engagement Manager, IET, said: “Engineers need to be able to resolve problems quickly and accurately. At the IET, we have a responsibility to provide essential information to our network, and our previous community was simply not serving this purpose, or our members. Thanks to 4 Roads, it is now much easier to connect engineers with important information to ensure they are supported at all times.”
James Browne, Director of 4 Roads added: “Engineers are incredibly busy people and do not have time to trawl the internet for answers. This new online community will make it simpler for them to access the details they need, when they need them. We’re delighted to be able to deliver the IET a solution that meets the needs of its current and future members.”
