EHL Ingredients invests in new machinery and announces recruitment drive
Stockport’s EHL Ingredients has invested in new machinery at its production facility on Broadstone Industrial Estate and is recruiting for sales and purchasing roles to support the busy team, as it enters a period of growth and expansion following the challenging times during the pandemic.
The new blending machine, installed this week, is a Baker Perkins 200 litre capacity ribbon blender. It will allow the company to offer options to customers who have smaller requirements for bespoke blends and service smaller orders. EHL Ingredients can now supply its herb and spice seasonings, blends and rubs to smaller scale food manufacturers, butchers, bakeries, retailers, packers, foodie start up companies, and the hospitality sector, as well as provide smaller orders to larger companies when required.
Tasneem Alonzo, joint managing director at EHL Ingredients, says: “We’ve taken on lots of new customers in the last few months, and as times have changed, so have companies’ requirements. We found we were unable to service some of our customers with smaller quantities of blended products so now, with our new blender, we are able to do so efficiently and quickly, meaning we can expand this side of the business.
“One of the takeouts of the pandemic for us is that business has changed and company requirements have changed. Where we used to regularly supply large, bulk orders, we are now taking on smaller businesses, smaller quantity orders, and working more closely with customers to be flexible to their changing needs.
“Our blends and seasonings go into prepared foods, BBQ products, plant-based foods, fish dishes, curries, sauces, and pies, pasties and sweet and savoury baked products and we’re confident we’ll have a bumper 2022 as global foods and flavours are booming among British consumers.”
In addition, the company is recruiting for two roles in sales and purchasing. The sales role is for a junior account manager who will support the sales team, be the first point of contact for customers, and ensure a high standard of service and response.
The purchasing role is a junior administration position to support the wider purchasing team, which deals with ingredient suppliers around the world.
The company says experience within food manufacturing isn’t essential as full training will be provided.
Tasneem adds: “We’re growing as a business and we are looking for enthusiastic candidates looking to learn more about sales and purchasing in the food industry. It’s an exciting time as things are changing at pace and we’re expanding our capabilities, developing new seasonings and blends, and we’re expecting to continue to thrive in 2022 and beyond.”
EHL Ingredients imports, blends and packs natural dried herbs and spices from around the world – from paprika and parsley, to chillies and cardamom. It also supplies blends such as curry powders, harissa, Tex-Mex, BBQ, and seasonings for sausages and burgers, as well as a range for plant based, vegan and vegetarian foods. It supplies ingredients in organic and conventional format in bulk, under its Lähde brand, to the food manufacturing industry and to the catering and hospitality sectors.
