Newcastle International Airport to host second careers fair following initial success

Newcastle International Airport has announced a second Aviation Careers Fair will be held at the end of March, due to unprecedented demand following the success of the Airport’s first event.

In early January, the North East’s largest Airport, Newcastle International, hosted a careers fair aimed at those looking for a career in the aviation industry. The fair saw the Airport and some of its largest business partners advertise over 500 job vacancies across the site.

The event was attended by hundreds of candidates looking for a “new, exciting career” in the industry. As the Airport prepares for a busy summer season, a second careers fair has been announced aimed at those who couldn’t make it on the day or are now seeking employment.

As one of the largest employers in the region, the airport offers a range of career prospects, alongside flexible shift patterns and a mix of full and part time positions. Those interested in applying can expect to find entry level positions, as well as team leader and managerial vacancies on offer.

Organised in conjunction with the Newcastle United Foundation, the SAFC Foundation of Light and Newcastle College, the event will be held at St James’ Park in Newcastle upon Tyne on Friday 25th March 2022.

Attendees will be able to find out more about the various roles available, such as Security Officers, Passenger Services Assistants and Car Park Operatives, all of which include a bonus of £250 on completion of 20 weeks continuous service.

The Airport’s business partners, operating within the Airport, will also be attending the fair. Roles include customer service representatives with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, management positions, and commis chefs with SSP and customer service assistants with World Duty Free.

Nick Jones, chief executive of Newcastle International Airport, said: “We are very much looking forward to a busy summer season, as such we are looking for enthusiastic and hard-working individuals to join our team.

“The aviation industry offers excellent career prospects and with a range of roles available across the Airport site, I would encourage anyone looking for employment or simply for a new challenge to come along and find out more information.”
