Andel celebrates export success with inaugural distributors’ awards
The UK’s leading developer of specialised leak detection and environmental protection systems, Andel, celebrated the achievements of its export distributors who have risen to the challenges posed by the past couple of years by holding a dedicated awards ceremony.
The Barnsley-based manufacturer formally celebrated the sterling efforts of its international partners in the face of economic and supply-chain issues caused by the pandemic and Brexit.
Distributors in Australia, Italy, Israel, Poland and Ireland were among the winners in categories such as ‘Best Annual Growth’, ‘Best New Distributor’, and ‘Best Overall Distributor’ and each received an award certificate and engraved crystal memento as well as thousands of pounds of discounts on any future orders.
As well as exporting worldwide and to places such as The Pentagon and Hong Kong International Airport, Andel’s client list includes HM The Queen, HM Government (including the NHS, Ministry of Defence, Home Office and DEFRA) and virtually every major western financial institution and telecoms provider.
In June 1992, the late Ian Pogson started the business from his garden shed in Marsden creating a leak detection system like no other on the market. In the early days, Pogson employed just a handful of staff, to support the development and manufacturing of his new Floodline system. Now the Yorkshire manufacturer employs around 60 and has a turnover of between 5 and 6 million, and recently moved to a bigger, more carbon-neutral premises in Dodworth, South Yorkshire.
At the event at their offices, Commercial Director, Mark Harris, said: “We know it’s been a tough couple of years for exporters so we felt strongly that we wanted to recognise and reward the work that our distributors are doing to promote and sell our products to international clients.
“We are doing all we can to try to double the outcome of our export sales, starting with these awards. We currently have 22 distributors and exports are approaching 10% of our total sales so we hope that this sort of encouragement and support will further propel the sales in these regions and allow us to continue growing our export footprint outside of the UK.
“This year we will also launch an array of new or updated products, better training and support both physically and online. We are growing our brand and to make sure our products are recognised internationally.
Our aim in 2022 is that we firmly establish Export Sales at 10% plus and then start looking at how we move it up to 20%.“
