Dorset hospice charity receives vital financial support from housebuilders in anniversary year
A Dorset charity providing hospice care support for the community has received a £1,000 cheque from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes in its 30th anniversary year.
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care in Poole is a charity dedicated to helping people with life limiting illnesses across East Dorset and Purbeck. It provides extraordinary care for patients and their loved ones through its vital services, which are free of charge.
The charity has now received an important donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes as part of the housebuilders’ Community Fund, which gives £1,000 to worthy causes in the region each month.
The leading housebuilders’ support coincides with Lewis-Manning’s 30th anniversary celebrations, and its ‘30 for 30’ campaign.
Nicki Cluley, Lewis-Manning Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser, said: “As we commemorate our special anniversary, we will be encouraging 30 local businesses to pledge £1,000 each, so we can raise £30,000 in our 30th year.
“Barratt and David Wilson Homes are one of the first businesses to donate £1,000 and we are extremely grateful. We need to raise over £1.6m every year to offer our services, and without these funds, we could not exist. This support means we can continue to help people who need it in the community.”
Tammy Bishop, Sales Director at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, Southampton Division, said: “Lewis-Manning is providing exceptional care to patients and their families across Dorset, and it’s a pleasure to pledge our support.
“I’m sure the incredible charity will have no problem persuading other local businesses to sign up in its 30th year.”
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has been providing extraordinary care for people in the community for 30 years. Marjorie Lewis-Manning had a vision to help people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and since its beginnings, the charity has helped over 8,000 patients, carers and loved ones.
The charity’s important work increases people’s physical and social well-being, reduces isolation and loneliness, supports people to stay in their homes longer, and alleviates the huge pressures on family and carers.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes offered additional support for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care earlier this year, when the developers sent over volunteers to help collect Christmas trees from homes across the region and deliver them for chipping at Eco Sustainable Solutions in Christchurch.
The housebuilders’ Community Fund is a dedicated financial resource that helps to support local causes which improve the quality of life for those living in the region.
