Hand Made For Dementia Care
Hoar Cross Nursing Home has benefitted from a donation of handmade and knitted bespoke Fiddle Muffs from a friend of the home.
Brightly coloured and featuring buttons, beads, ribbons and pompoms crafted into different tactile shapes, these handmade Fiddle Muffs are designed to keep hands active and warm.
Especially useful for people with dementia, the Fiddle Muffs can provide comfort through sensory stimulation as well as keeping restless hands busy as they explore the various crafted additions to the muff.
Fiona Kersey, Manager at Hoar Cross Nursing and Care Home says: “Fiddle muffs probably don’t mean much to people who have no experience of dementia. However for us they are an invaluable source of distraction for our residents living with dementia. We would like to say a big thank you to Maddie on our care team and her mother-in-law who so graciously knitted the Fiddle Muffs gifted to us. We love them, thank you so much.”
Hoar Cross Nursing Home occupies a magnificent spot in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. It offers first class nursing care for long and short-term residents, as well as respite. The home is registered to provide care for residents with physical disabilities, dementia or at end of life.
