This week’s Yorkshire appointments

This week’s round up of Yorkshire appointments includes Beal Homes, Switalskis and Barton Willmore (Stantec). Read on to find out more.

Andy Devine, Beal Homes

Regional housebuilder Beal Homes has appointed a new construction director as it continues to drive growth in volumes. Andy Devine (pictured right) has joined the family-owned business from Barratt & David Wilson Homes, where he was contracts manager for the Yorkshire East area.

He succeeds long-serving John Goodfellow, who has retired. During an 18-year tenure as construction director, John played a key role in Beal becoming established as the “leading independent housebuilder” operating in Hull, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Andy brings 26 years of experience in the construction industry to Beal, having previously held a series of Yorkshire based senior positions with national housebuilders.

For the past six years, he has been contracts manager for Barratt & David Wilson Homes, Yorkshire East. Prior to this, he was production manager for Linden Homes North and a site manager for Linden Homes and Barratt & David Wilson Homes.

Richard Beal, chief executive of the East Yorkshire-based housebuilder (pictured left), said: “We’re delighted to appoint Andy to this key role. He has an excellent track record of leading construction teams and delivering major developments while maintaining a strong focus on build quality.

Andy added: “This is a great move for me. I was attracted by the opportunity to move from a national Plc to join a growing, independent housebuilder that has such a strong commitment to building homes based on the wants and needs of buyers. There are very few housebuilders that are as ambitious as Beal or have such dedication to quality.”

Julie Guest, Switalskis

Yorkshire law firm the Switalskis group has recruited senior HR professional Julie Guest (pictured right) into its new head of people role. Julie’s appointment comes as part of the Switalskis group’s growth strategy which has already seen the firm expand its presence with the acquisitions of Atherton Godfrey and Pryers Solicitors.

As head of people, Julie will drive the firm’s people agenda, taking the lead on developing Switalskis’ talent, leadership and inclusion strategies and will further bring together teams across the group.

Bringing 28 years’ HR experience to the position, Julie joins Switalskis group from Harrogate energy supply company, CNG, where she was HR Manager, growing and upskilling a team of in-house HR professionals.

Julie said: “It’s great to join a firm with such a strong focus on its people, culture and values and I am looking forward to playing a part in further cementing our group-wide focus in this area.

“My role will involve further integration of people and systems following the acquisition of Atherton Godfrey and Pryers, along with enhancing Switalskis’ already strong talent development and creating an environment and culture in which everyone is able to flourish. A key part of this will be ensuring every employee comes along on this journey with us.”

John Durkan, Switalskis group managing director (pictured left), added: “Julie has been responsible for a number of successful change and development programmes within professional services businesses, and I’m delighted she has joined us as our first head of people”
