The Vita Group celebrates dual safety award wins
Two Vita Comfort manufacturing sites which are part of The Vita Group, one of Europe’s leading providers of flexible polyurethane foam, have won prestigious health & safety awards for work undertaken to protect employees from the risk of injury and ill health.
Vita Comfort’s Middleton site, which provides premium products and services to the bedding and furniture sectors, received an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council and the UK Usleep team have also been officially recognised with a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) award.
The International Safety Award from the British Safety Council was presented in recognition of Middleton’s commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2021 calendar year. Our Middleton site is one of just 204 organizations to win a Merit in the International Safety Awards 2022.
The International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.
We are also celebrating Usleep’s achievement of regaining a RoSPA award. This was the second year in a row that the Usleep has been presented with a RoSPA award, which is one of the most prestigious and recognised health & safety schemes in the world. Usleep, produces a range of foam, spring and hybrid mattresses for several the UK’s leading mattress retailers and Bed in the Box (BiB) brands.
Ian Robb, CEO of The Vita Group, said: “Safety is a primary focus for us at Vita and we’re committed to providing the very best working environment for our staff, suppliers, and stakeholders. As these awards prove, we are really leading the way with its approach to safety - an approach that involves not just effectively minimising everyday onsite risks but also supporting the mental health and general wellbeing of our colleagues.
“These awards are a real testament to the hard work our teams put in every day to ensuring that our staff are as safe, comfortable and protected as possible. As these awards are in recognition of our 2021 activities, it includes a lot of additional effort that was required to meet the unique issues presented by the pandemic. I am proud to say that all our teams rose to this challenge incredibly and it is wonderful to see them recognised by multiple leading health and safety authorities.”
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council, congratulated Vita Middleton on their success in winning an International Safety Award 2022 with a Merit: “The British Safety Council applauds The Vita Group’s Middleton site on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and hard work to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.
“The vision of British Safety Council is that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also increasingly to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit.
“The extensive list of winners of the International Safety Awards, demonstrates that a considerable number of companies recognise that effective management of health and safety risks is a business growth enabler, benefiting not just employees, but organisations and wider society. By celebrating the achievements of the 549 winners of the 2022 International Safety Awards and over six decades of improving health and safety standards around the world, we encourage other organisations to adopt this approach and place employees’ health, safety, and wellbeing at the core of their business.
“Our heartfelt congratulations to Vita Middleton. All of those working at The Vita Group’s Middleton site should be enormously proud of their achievement.”
