This week’s North East appointments

This week’s round up of North East appointments includes Hay & Kilner, Castle Building Services and Go Geothermal. Read on to find out more.

Claire Simmons, Hay & Kilner

North East law firm Hay & Kilner is continuing to build its award-winning private client offering with the appointment of residential property specialist Claire Simmons. Claire has joined the Newcastle headquartered firm as a partner and brings more than two decades’ experience of working with leading North East law firms to her new role.

She holds a Masters degree in Property Law from Northumbria University and has worked with a wide range of clients right across England and Wales, often with successive generations of the same family.

Claire said: “The North East has always been the primary focus of my practice due to the qualities of both its people and its places, and Newcastle in particular is a thriving city that offers a huge range of opportunities.

“Working in residential property gives me the chance to really get to know my clients and their families. No two transactions are ever the same, and it’s really satisfying to help these people achieve their property ambitions.

Ben Fawcett and Andrew Herron, Castle Building Services

Castle Building Services has announced two senior appointments, Ben Fawcett as procurement director and Andrew Heron as commercial manager.

With the business for eight years, Ben steps up from purchasing manager and Andrew who joined the company in 2020 previously held the position of senior quantity surveyor. Both Andrew and Ben now sit on the senior management team.

Ben said: “This is the first time the company has appointed a procurement director, highlighting the growth and development we are experiencing and the pipeline of work that we have on the order books.

“Going forward, I will be involved in business strategy and assessing ways to continually improve our processes and procedures. It is an opportunity for me to gain a deeper insight of the business and to assist my own development.”

Andrew added: “Being appointed commercial manager and being asked to sit on the senior management team highlights the progression paths at the company. I am looking forward to building my team and passing on knowledge to my colleagues.

“The opportunities are there to develop your career if you have the right mindset, are committed and work hard.”

Alan Brooke, Go Geothermal

Go Geothermal, which employs 18 people from its head office on the Aycliffe Business Park in Newton Aycliffe, has appointed Alan Brooke as its new technical manager for the North.

Alan will provide support to installers who purchase products from the company’s CTC brand, particularly ground and air heat source heat pumps. This will include ensuring installers have all the knowledge and support they need to fit the heat pumps in both residential and commercial properties.

Alan comes to Go Geothermal with over 35 years’ experience in the heating and renewable energy industry and has worked solely with renewables since 2009 as an installer and in sales.

He said: “I am delighted to have joined Go Geothermal and am looking forward to being part of the further growth of the company and growing the CTC brand in the UK. In Scandinavia, CTC is the market leader, selling 48% of all heat pumps in the region, and this is down to the extremely high quality of the products they supply.

“They are the Rolls Royce of heat pumps and one of my roles is to introduce the brand to more installers in the UK and make sure the installation process runs as smoothly as possible.”

Tim Williams, Director of Go Geothermal, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to attract someone of Alan’s calibre and experience to the company. He will offer a superior level of support on all CTC products as we grow this quality brand in the UK.”
