Bob & Berts opens latest store in Bury town centre

Independent coffee and food chain Bob & Berts will open its latest store in The Rock shopping centre on Friday 29th April 2022, creating 35 new jobs.

The business has transformed an empty 3,500 sq ft unit into a new coffee shop that reflects Bob & Berts’ relaxed, family-friendly style, with a cosy interior and alfresco dining space for customers to enjoy.

Open from 8am – 9pm, seven days a week, guests can expect an all-day breakfast menu with favourites including ‘Bob’s Famous Fry’ and ‘Bert’s English Breakfast Muffin’, as well as a range of its famous pancake stacks and waffle dishes. Light bites and lunch dishes are served alongside a range of vegetarian and vegan dishes such as the ‘Vegan Breakfast Burrito’ and a gluten free menu which includes the brunch favourite ‘Eggs Benny’.

Bob & Berts serves its own artisan coffee that’s hand-roasted in Northern Ireland using 100% arabica beans, as well as a range of milkshakes, frappes and smoothies.

To celebrate the official opening, the store will be giving away free breakfast to the first 10 customers and free coffee to the first 100 customers through its doors on Friday 29th April.

Colin McClean, founder of Bob & Berts, said: “We’ve made a significant investment in transforming the Bury site to create a location that’s completely unique in the town and will offer customers an extensive range of great grub and proper coffee served all day long in our relaxed surroundings. We carefully select each of our locations where we see a genuine opportunity to meet the needs of the community by providing a store that offers quality, affordable food and drink, and demonstrates a commitment to supporting the future of the local high street.”

David Ferguson, co-owner of Bob & Berts, added: “We’re really pleased with the new store, which is our fourth opening in England in the last 12 months. The initial feedback from passers-by and the local community on social media has been really positive, and we’re very much looking forward to opening our doors to the public this week and giving them a taste of what Bob & Berts has to offer.”

Founded in Portstewart in Northern Ireland in 2013 by Colin McClean and David Ferguson, Bob & Berts is known for its distinctive style, quality offering and community-focused approach.

Following a £2 million investment from BGF in 2017, the business has grown to 25 sites across the UK, and in the last 12 months opened its first three sites in the North West of England in Lancaster, Kendal and Preston – all of which are experiencing strong sales.

The independent chain, which currently has five sites in Scotland, will also open its sixth Scottish store in Perth in May 2022, taking the total number of stores across the UK to 26. For the next phase of expansion, the business is looking at other North West locations including Southport, Lytham St Annes, Blackpool and further north into Carlisle among other opportunities.
