Adlington Retirement Living marks official opening of Heaton Mersey retirement community

Adlington Retirement Living marked the official opening of The Woodlands, a brand-new retirement community on Woodlands Road in Heaton Mersey, with an official visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, Councillor Adrian Nottingham and Mrs Diane Nottingham.

The grand opening of the 63 age-exclusive apartments was celebrated with a sparkling reception in the restaurant and lounge.

The Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Adrian Nottingham, who joined new homeowners, potential purchasers and the on-site team to mark the occasion, commented: “It was wonderful to meet some of the new homeowners who have moved into The Woodlands since it opened its doors in February. There’s already a real sense of community and it was good to see homeowners enjoying new friendships, social occasions, and activities as well as enjoying their beautiful apartments. I was really impressed with the restaurant, the open plan coffee bar and the beautiful gardens.”

Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director at Adlington Retirement Living, added “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport back to another Adlington Retirement Living community, this time to officially open The Woodlands. Adlington Retirement Living aims to empower our older generation to live a long, happy and healthy life. We do that by creating safe and secure environments with active communities, extensive facilities, and spacious, quality homes where our homeowners can enjoy their retirement.”

The Woodlands, an Adlington retirement community specially designed for those over the age of 55, welcomed its first homeowners in February 2022.

The communal facilities at The Woodlands include a hair salon, therapy suite and activities studio.

The 24-hour on-site support team provide homeowners with added peace of mind and, if needed, the option of tailored personal care.

Four of Adlington’s sites have won Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for the Best Retirement Development at the WhatHouse? Awards, the UK housebuilding’s most prestigious event. The Folds in Romiley and the Bridges in Macclesfield won the Silver Award in 2020 and 2019, Adlington House in Otley won the Gold Award in 2017 and Adlington House in Portishead won the Bronze Award in 2015.
