Acorn property group buys £7m rural Wiltshire development site
Leading independent housebuilder Acorn Property Group has completed on a new development site in the Wiltshire village of Urchfont.
The £7m GDV (gross development value) scheme is a little under 1.5 acres (0.6 hectares) and has been purchased with full planning permission to develop a total of thirteen new homes.
The new development has been named Hazel Green and will offer a mixture of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and one bungalow, ranging in size from 1,001 sq ft (93 sq m) to 2,045 sq ft (190 sq m). Of the thirteen new homes, four will be affordable housing.
As part of the development activity Acorn will also be contributing towards upgrading sports and recreation facilities in the parish, improvements to public open space and additional space at the local secondary school.
Robin Squire, regional managing director of Acorn’s Bristol Region said: “Hazel Green, Urchfont offers an opportunity to develop much needed local housing, using bespoke design exclusively for this location.
“Acorn Property Group has over twenty-five years’ experience of development in unique locations and is committed to creating new homes in a style sympathetic to and in keeping with the immediate environment, in a sustainable way.
“The site, which is ideally located for the development of sustainable housing, will see Acorn deliver homes that are set to be EPC rated A, using important environmentally friendly features.”
Robin continues: “Hazel Green will provide a distinctive and attractive development of just thirteen homes, which respond to local character, while respecting existing woodland, landscaping features and the local community. Final details of each home are yet to be finalised.”
The village of Urchfont, which forms part of the famous Pewsey Vale with its surrounding countryside, is renowned for its central duck pond and period properties. Construction work is anticipated to start on Hazel Green during summer 2022.
