Dorset housebuilder still seeing high demand for high-quality homes
Barratt Developments in Dorset is continuing to see a high demand for its high-quality, energy efficient new homes and remains committed to leading the industry, according to its recent trading update.
The housebuilder, which is bringing new homes to the county through its Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes developments, has released its update from the period 1st January to 1st May 2022, and the results are positive.
In the period, Barratt’s net private reservation rate has been strong at 0.93 per active outlet per average week – a 12% increase on the equivalent period in 2021. And this happening alongside continued house price inflation, reflects the strength of demand for the developer’s new homes across the country.
The housebuilder has completed on 4,625 homes as of 1st May 2022 and has a total forward sale estimate (including Joint Ventures) which totals 15,821 homes at a value of £4.383.3m. This is a huge achievement, and shows Barratt’s commitment to building high-quality, sustainable developments the country needs.
Jon Green, Barratt and David Wilson Homes Managing Director, Southampton Division, said: “We are still seeing a strong demand across the country for our new homes and our excellent operational teams are working hard to meet this demand.
“We expect to deliver full year trading results in line with the Board’s expectations and remain focused on growing towards our medium-term target of 20,000 homes a year, delivering the high-quality, sustainable developments the country needs, creating jobs and supporting the economy.
“As our business grows, we are committed to leading the industry in quality, service and sustainability and we are proud to be the only major housebuilder to be awarded 5 stars by our customers for the 13th successive year.”
Reflecting both strong trading and a successful increase in construction activity, Barratt expects its total home completions in FY22 to be between 18,000 and 18,250 homes, including around 750 JV home completions.
It also remains disciplined and selective in its approach to acquiring new land. The housebuilder has approved the purchase of 5,076 plots across 29 sites and continues to expect to approve between 18,000 and 20,000 plots in FY22.
And, in line with its commitment to being the leading national sustainable housebuilder, the business is well placed for the changes being introduced with the Future Homes Standard in 2022 as it continues to drive towards ensuring all of its new house types are zero carbon in use from 2030.
