Mabbett acquires "leading" energy and environmental consultants
Glasgow-headquartered planning, design, environment, engineering and safety consultancy Mabbett & Associates Ltd (Mabbett) has continued its strategic growth journey with the acquisition of leading energy and environmental consultants, GEP Environmental Ltd (GEP Environmental).
The majority investment in the Hampshire-based company - which has offices in Winchester, Edinburgh, Anglesey and Caerphilly - cements a decade-long working relationship between Mabbett and GEP Environmental.
The deal will significantly enhance the technical resources and service offering of the combined group (which will number in excess of 100 people) whilst also extending its reach to cover the entire United Kingdom, adding to current Mabbett offices in Belfast, Cardiff, Carlisle, Dundee, Forres, Glasgow, Inverness, Leicester, Liverpool and Rosyth.
Speaking about the investment, Mabbett managing director, Derek J. McNab, said, “we are delighted to add GEP Environmental to the Mabbett group in a deal that we believe will bring huge benefits to the clients of both companies going forward, not to mention the new opportunities that the enhanced service offering and reach will bring.
GEP Environmental director and principal environmental consultant, Peter Schofield, commented, “it’s great to announce that we have joined the Mabbett group at what is an exciting time for both companies. There is so much appetite and opportunity in the marketplace right now for the services we both offer and, together, we will be able to better capitalise on them.”
Acquiring GEP Environmental is Mabbett’s third major strategic investment since transitioning into Inverness-based investment company, GEG Capital Ltd. The deal comes on the back of a year of double digit growth at Mabbett in which time they have added 25 new staff positions across the UK.
