R3 bringing Northern conference to County Durham
More than 100 insolvency and restructuring experts will be heading to the North East next month when insolvency and restructuring trade body R3 brings its Northern Conference to the region for the first time since before the pandemic.
The event, which is being held at Ramside Hall Hotel near Durham, will see business leaders from right across the north of England debating key issues relating to the UK insolvency framework, their impact on the way insolvency practitioners (IPs) work to save struggling companies and the jobs they sustain.
Alongside technical updates, the conference will also see presentations from outside speakers on a range of wider topics, including an update on the UK’s economic outlook from the Bank of England’s deputy agent for the North East, Gareth Harrison, and the approach of the Insolvency Service and other Government agencies to the misuse and recovery of Bounceback Loans.
The Northern Conference is being hosted by R3 North East chair Chris Ferguson, who is head of recovery & insolvency at Gosforth-based RMT Accountants & Business Advisors.
He says, “we have a thriving North East insolvency and restructuring community which makes a massive contribution to the health of the regional economy, and we are looking forward to bringing so many of the north of England’s IPs and restructuring professionals together in Durham to share their expertise with our regional practitioners.
“The profession is very much focused on finding solutions which enable struggling businesses to find a way back to stability and continue to contribute to the local, regional and national economy.
“Much of the work carried out by the profession goes ‘under the radar’ to ensure issues with the business are identified and averted before they happen wherever possible.
“With the regional and national economies facing multiple short and long-term challenges, this side of our work has never been more important and it will play a central role in helping significant numbers of struggling firms secure successful, sustainable futures.
“We’re pleased to have been able to put together a diverse and interesting programme of sessions and networking opportunities for our delegates, and are looking forward to welcoming all our delegates back to the North East.”
