West Sussex housebuilder’s show home furniture raises more than £1,600 for Cancer Research UK
Show home furniture donated by Barratt Homes in West Sussex has raised £1,606.80 for Cancer Research UK.
After gathering up unused goods from its show homes across the region, the housebuilder passed them on to the cancer charity’s Bognor-based retail store. And, with all items now sold, the proceeds are heading straight to the leading research organisation.
Lorraine Martin, who works as shop manager at Cancer Research UK’s charity shop in Bognor, was thrilled to accept the developer’s generous donation.
She said: “A huge thank you to Barratt from all of us here. The proceeds from selling these goods have raised a great sum of money for Cancer Research in the country and we’re extremely grateful.”
Barratt Homes is committed to supporting charities and organisations in the areas it is building, and Tammy Bishop, Barratt Homes Sales Director, is delighted to hear the housebuilder’s donated furniture has gone on to raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.
She said: “We always try to make sure we pass on our show home items to a charity that can make use of it – and it’s wonderful to hear that Cancer Research UK will be benefiting from our latest donation.”
Cancer Research UK was formed 20 years ago, in 2002, but its pioneering work into how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer has benefitted millions of lives over the past 120 years.
It’s charity stores across the region, including at High Street, Bognor Regis, sell a variety of donated items to raise money for its groundbreaking work.
In addition to goods donations, Barratt Homes also makes monthly donations to local causes as part of its Community Fund. The fund donates £1,000 each month to a charity or organisation which improves the quality of life for those living in the region. The initiative is part of the company’s pledge to strengthen its ties with the areas in which it is building new homes.
