Seven promotions, PwC

PwC has recently announced the appointment of Richard Podd (pictured middle) as the new market senior Partner for its Newcastle office.

A tax partner, Richard has been with the firm for almost 21 years, having joined PwC as a graduate and is proud to include a number of high profile regional businesses within his existing client portfolio.

In addition to Richard’s appointment, PwC is delighted to reaffirm its commitment to the region by announcing a raft of additional senior promotions all based in the North. Six directors have been promoted to partner this summer, all of them female, increasing gender diversity in the region to 32 per cent.

The new partners are Victoria Coe (pictured left), Emma Neal (pictured right), Charlotte Tracy, Lucy Robson, Anna Vishnyakov, and Katie Johnston. PwC has also welcomed 25 new directors, 48 senior managers and 64 new managers across the North.

Richard commented: “I am delighted to take on the role of Market Senior Partner for Newcastle. My focus in this new role will be to support businesses across the North East to grow and thrive through accessing clear and pragmatic professional advice.

“It’s important that we continue to help the region to secure transformational investment, and that we keep our focus on strategic priorities such as levelling up and energy transition strategy.’’

Stephen Harris, Azets

Azets, the regional accountancy and business advisors to SMEs,has announced the promotion of Stephen Harris to tax director in the North East. The firm has also promoted seven other staff and announced six graduates and school leavers will be recruited this year.

These promotions demonstrate Azets’ commitment to growing the business regionally. Earlier this year it announced the acquisition of Tait Walker. Azets has 12 offices in the North East and employs over 320 people in the region.

Stephen Harris is a chartered tax advisor and chartered accountant with over 13 years experience of providing commercially focused advice to a wide range of businesses and their owners.

Covering all sectors with clients ranging from start-ups and entrepreneurial companies through to multi-national entities, he advises on a number of key areas including, Research and Development Tax Relief, Creative Tax Reliefs, Corporate Reorganisations and Succession planning.

Joanne Regan, Azets’ regional managing partner for the North East, said: “I’d like to congratulate Stephen on his promotion to director, he brings a wealth of experience to the role. Congratulations also to the other Azets team members on their promotions which are testament to their hard work and dedication.”

RMS Recruitment has expanded its team with the appointment of a regional sales manager and resourcer as they grow their operations across the Tees Valley. James Rycroft brings 17 years’ experience in engineering and technical recruitment and will drive new business opportunities for RMS at a time when business on Teesside is booming.

With 21 years of business under RMS belt, the established Darlington-based company will build on its past success and the region’s bright future.

Managing director, Carole Martin, said: “James has broad sector knowledge within new energy, hydrocarbons, manufacturing, construction, mining and metals, and has worked extensively with diverse clients from domestic and international marketplaces, ranging from start-ups to major blue-chip companies.

“Using his experience of technical talent acquisition, new business development and process improvement, he will work with our directors and wider team to drive the business forward using our recruitment and HR service models. An undeniable asset to the team.”

RMS has also recruited Abigail Howey, an experienced recruitment consultant formerly based in Manchester, to their head office on Victoria Road.

Carole added: “Abigail has really hit the ground running, securing her first permanent placement for a client in her first week. She is a brilliant addition to the team, bringing a plethora of permanent recruitment knowledge and focusing on manufacturing and engineering appointments. We are excited to see where her future with us leads.”
