North East EV charging business promotes the importance of feasibility studies to save unnecessary costs
A North East business, launched last month and offering full turnkey electric vehicle charging installations to the public and commercial sectors, has announced it is offering feasibility studies, prior to the start of any work, that will accurately pinpoint the most optimized and cost-effective location to site charging stations.
UK EV Power Connections, based in West Sleekburn, Northumberland is offering the studies to provide clients with the ability to achieve a connection direct to the electricity network without the significant costs previously known in the industry.
Speaking about the importance of the feasibility studies, MD of UK EV Power Connections, Bill Robertson said: ’Very often the location of a charging site is not as considered as it should be and with some pre work, significant cost savings can be made.
“Our feasibility studies provide a detailed assessment delivered prior to any work starting and which will tell our client exactly where they should locate their site both in terms of the most optimized and cost-effective location.
“The importance of such feasibility studies was very evident on a recent project we consulted on where, an electricity substation was constructed to support the site and where, by simply tapping into the network at a different location, would have eliminated the need to build this and the six-figure sum associated with it.”
As part of the feasibility study UK EV Power Connections will identify the client’s needs and examine the network capacity, identifying the site which is the most efficient point to connect to the grid.
Current Government legislation states that 145,000 EV charge points must be installed each year in the run up to 2030. There is also a compulsory requirement, from 2022, for all new homes and buildings and extensive retrofit projects to include EV charging installations.
UK EV Power Connections is made up of former DNO design engineers with a combined experience of over 25 years’ in electricity distribution industry and the infrastructure requirements for establishing EV charger connections to both high and low voltage networks.
