Barrio Familia to open their new site in Covent Garden
Barrio Familia have chosen the former Tropicana Beach Club site for their fifth and biggest site to date. Bringing the spirit of the Latin quarter to London’s vibrant theatre district, the flagship venue is set to open November 2022, showcasing their newly crafted cocktail menu, authentic food creations and famous Latino party vibes. There will be no fiesta quite like it.
This will be the first new opening for the Barrio Familia group, since they were acquired by Nightcap in November 2021, and the fifth opening for the group, adding to their portfolio of sites in Shoreditch, Soho, Angel, and Brixton. After opening the first Barrio site in 2007, the vision was to have a Barrio in every big party neighborhood in the UK and Covent Garden will be the beginning of that exciting expansion.
Each of the Barrio Bar sites offer a full-colour, full-flavour experience, serving Latin-inspired cocktails, Mexican street food, live entertainment, and of course, plenty of tequila. Bringing feel-good vibes through their vibrant concept, Barrio aims to give guests’ the best Latino party on the London scene.
The group plan to launch their biggest bingo brunch party to date, as well as offering their ‘amigo hour’, a happy hour featuring special deals on tacos, tequila and 2-4-1 Latino cocktails. Party packages and corporate events will also be on offer, with guests being able to add the WOW factor to any special occasion and enjoy cocktail masterclasses and full venue hires.
Jim Robertson, managing director of Barrio Familia, commented: “Having previously set up and operated Tropicana Beach Club prior to the pandemic, I am so excited to be going back again with Nightcap to open Barrio Covent Garden. This will be our biggest Barrio to date, and without a doubt, the best party we have ever thrown.
“We believe Barrio to be the biggest tequila bar in the world and are thrilled to bring the Latin Quarter to the West End of London, especially as this has been depleted of large late night party venues over the pandemic. It’s going to be an incredible launch and we couldn’t be more ready for this next fiesta!”
Nick Weir, joint managing partner at Shelley Sandzer, commented: “As we continue to see the F&B market thrive in the West End, there is no doubt that this new site for Barrio will be a strong testament to Covent Garden, a dynamic and well-established location.”
Sarah Willingham, chief executive officer of Nightcap, commented: “When we acquired Barrio in November 2021 we wanted to capitalise on the growing demand for Latin-inspired, Margarita and Tequila focussed bars, we always viewed Barrio as a brand that had significant potential for growth and rollout and we are absolutely delighted to have secured such a landmark venue in Central London.
