Architect acquires new Leeds city centre office following £3.5m redevelopment

DLA Architecture has secured new premises for its headquarters in Leeds city centre. It is moving from St Paul’s Street to 6 East Parade where it has agreed a 10 year lease to occupy the entire second floor comprising 8,000 sq ft of flexible office space.

With the move, DLA intends to “enhance team collaboration and agile working” among its 60 people in Leeds, along with a further 31 in studios in London and Manchester. The fit out to the office floor is designed to support new “more agile” ways of working, post-Covid, with several sustainable features within a “highly contemporary” layout.

Andrew Hargreaves at DLA Architecture commented: “We are delighted to announce our office move to a fantastic new purpose designed space within a prime commercial location in Leeds city centre.

“It provides better prominence for us as one of Leeds most prolific architectural practices and is close to some of our most notable city centre projects including the iconic Majestic building and the recently completed 12 King Street.”

“The office environment has evolved post-Covid, and as an award-winning design team, it is important that we can demonstrate collaboration and sustainable working at its best. The fit out is fantastic with a layout that unites us all on one floor for a more supportive, relaxed, and flexible way of working, for us as well as our clients.”

6 East Parade has undergone a £3.5m redevelopment to provide Grade A office space over seven floors. The building now utilises renewable energy saving and harvesting technologies to provide class leading, sustainable office space.

DLA Architecture has been established for more than 40 years and employs 91 architectural staff across its offices in Leeds, Manchester, and London.

The firm reported 25 per cent growth in turnover at its 2021 year-end and is on track to sustain strong growth through 2022 with a pipeline of high-profile, large-scale projects in the region. Over the last 12 months the practice has secured a number of “strategically important” projects, in particular large scale high-rise mixed use developments.

It most recently secured planning consent for Lisbon Square, a major gateway development on the former international pool site in Central Leeds and has also submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of the former Yorkshire Post site in Leeds.
