MAC Construction Consultants secures over £30m of vital funding for education clients

MAC Construction Consultant’s specialist education arm has successfully secured Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) for over 50 projects nationally, totalling more than £30m for heating, fire safety and compliance, roofing, windows and asbestos removal projects.

The Government funding, which is available to academies, sixth-form colleges and non-diocesan VA schools looking to improve the condition of their facilities by making sure their buildings are safe and in good working order, is made available on an annual basis.

As part of the 2023 round, the DfE made £498 million available for 1,405 projects at 1,129 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools.

This is the seventh year that MAC has supported schools and academies with the bidding process for CIF, having secured more than £180m across 200 projects ranging from £50k to £3.5m.

Primarily used to address any compliance, or safety health and environment issues, the funds can also be utilised to support expansion projects at schools which are rated as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, and which can demonstrate need to accommodate more pupils.

MAC Construction Consultants have been working with clients over the summer to help them deliver these projects on time and on budget - addressing serious building condition needs and Health and Safety issues affecting teaching and learning across the schools.

The company is also preparing bid submissions for the next CIF round which is expected to be launched in October with bids due in December. Successful projects will be funded in Spring 2023 with projects being delivered over the summer.

Jonathan Jones, director at MAC Construction Consultants, said: “It is as important as ever that school facilities can offer an environment that is safe for children and it’s truly an amazing achievement for us as a team so have once again such a high success rate.

“These coming months will be some of our busiest and we will be working harder than ever to make sure we can put together appropriate schedules to make sure schools can benefit as early as possible.”
