Jet2 announces winter services to Iceland from Newcastle International Airport for the first time

Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks have announced that they will operate a programme of scheduled winter services to Iceland for the first time from Newcastle International Airport in Winter 23/24.

The leisure airline and operator of city breaks to Europe will operate twice weekly services (Wednesday and Sunday) to Keflavík International Airport near Reykjavik during key times in Winter 23/24, meaning thousands of seats are on sale to this incredibly popular destination.

Services will operate from September 27 to November 1, and from March 28 to April 21 during the “best times” to see the Northern Lights and experience the natural winter wonders of Iceland.

The programme of scheduled services also means that customers across the North East have choices when it comes to the duration of their holiday, whether it is a three, four or seven-night stay or longer. Jet2 will be the only airline to operate to Iceland from Newcastle International Airport in Winter 23/24, making it an “extremely popular route”.

Announcing the programme today comes in response to the number of customers who book early when it comes to choosing a flight or city break to Iceland. With Jet2.com and Jet2holidays pledging not to introduce any surcharges, this means customers can book their flight or city break, knowing that they have locked the price in.

Iceland has continued to experience strong demand thanks to its abundance of natural wonders, with early and late Winter proving to be particularly popular. Whether it be the cityscape of Reykjavik, the Northern Lights, or the Golden Circle and its geothermal lagoons, spas and waterfalls, Iceland offers a range of experiences.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “Our programme of flights and city breaks to Iceland continue to be hugely popular, as more customers than ever look to enjoy the stunning natural wonders.

“This programme gives customers and independent travel agents incredible choice and flexibility, and we know it will be a huge hit following the popularity of our previous programme of dedicated trips.”

Gretar Gardarsson, director of Airline Relations and Route Development at Keflavik Airport, added: “We at Keflavik Airport are very pleased to hear of Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks plans for the 2023/2024 winter.

“We are also delighted to hear of continued high demand for exciting trips to Iceland. Keflavik Airport looks forward to working with Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks to expand our valued partnership for years to come.”
