New homes being built using modern methods of construction on sale in Milton Keynes

Homes being built in Milton Keynes using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) have now been released for sale to the public. Bellway has put a selection of properties at its Tattenhoe Park development onto the market on Saturday 20 August.

The housebuilder was selected by Homes England to build phase four of Tattenhoe Park, a major extension to the south-west of the city that was approved by Milton Keynes Council in October 2021. Bellway’s development is part of a pilot project aimed at speeding up the delivery of new homes through MMC.

A total of 160 new homes will be delivered at the site, with a mix of 112 properties for private sale and 48 affordable homes for local people through rent or shared ownership.

Luke Southgate, sales director for Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “The demand for these new homes, which are being built in a way that will speed up delivery and improve quality, has been extremely strong ever since we announced our plans for this site.

“Due to the extremely high level of interest in the homes at Tattenhoe Park we have linked up with Elevation Estate Agents in Milton Keynes to bring the initial homes onto the market. The first releases feature a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments as well as a three-bedroom house, with the wider range of one to four-bedroom houses due to go on sale later this year.”

Bellway’s development at Tattenhoe Park will feature 40 modular homes built at a factory before being transported to the site and connected to mains services.

The remaining 120 homes will be built on site using timber frame panels instead of traditional block and brickwork. This makes the process faster and more sustainable while minimising weather-related delays.

Luke said: “It is a huge honour to have been chosen by Homes England for this ambitious and ground-breaking project. These are the first homes Bellway has built using Modern Methods of Construction so this development represents a significant step both for us as a company and for the housebuilding industry as a whole.

“We are looking forward to seeing these pioneering new properties come to life. Due to the amount of time saved during the construction process, we expect all homes to be built within a two-year period.”

Construction work began on the site in June 2022. When completed, the wider Tattenhoe Park scheme will form a new neighbourhood of more than 1,300 homes.
