Successful band night drums up funds for local charity

A Midlands-based developer’s popular charity band night saw a roaring success as it returned for the first time in three years.

The Deeley Group, which is headquartered in Coventry, raised over £10,000 for The Myton Hospices, a local hospice group which provides care and support for those living with terminal illnesses and their families.

Hosted for a second time since disruption by the pandemic, the Deeley Group Band Night saw Liverpool-based indie band The Lost Keys rock the stage at The Standard Triumph Club in Coventry.

The event attracted nearly 200 guests, who enjoyed a raffle of prizes donated by local companies, complete with silent auction to give a further fundraising boost for the hospice group.

Created in 1982, Myton provides for support more than 1,500 people and their families, both in its three hospices, via its patient and family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.

The inaugural event, held in 2019, raised £7,500 for Molly Olly’s Wishes – with this year’s event seeing fundraising boosted by £2,500.

The Trustees of the Deeley Group Charity who organised the event are Chris Newman, Matt Lynch, Carol Maughan and Ian Clorley, supported by Peter Deeley, Peter Hartill and Ksenia Mironenko.

Carol Maughan, Contract Administrator at the Deeley Group, said: “It was wonderful evening of entertainment, enjoyment and most importantly fundraising.

“The two sets played by the Lost Keys were a standout success, with all our guests saying how great the band’s performance was and how enjoyable the songs they played were.
“We are always seeking to support local charities and are very pleased to have raised over £10,000 for Myton Hospices. We know the funds will help to support Myton to continue with its important work with patients and their families in the local community.”

Yasmin Warburton, corporate fundraiser at the Myton Hospices said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Deeley Group team for putting on such a fantastic event. “Thank you also to all of the guests who came and supported in raising such a phenomenal amount of money for Myton.

“The auction was brilliant, and the raffle table was one of the best Myton has even seen and not forgetting the music - The Lost Keys who put on a brilliant performance. “Events and support like this make such a huge different to our ability to continue to provide our services, free of charge, to terminally ill patients and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.”
