Sheffield telecoms specialist “leads the way” in carbon neutral sustainability drive
In July 2022, Wayv Talk and Broadband for Business, based in Sheffield, partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to become the UK’s first business telecoms and broadband company to be Certified as Carbon Neutral.
By calculating its carbon footprint with the help and support of Carbon Neutral Britain, Wayv Talk has taken the steps necessary to offset and neutralise its footprint. This environmental action is part of the UK’s Carbon Offsetting Initiative, helping the impact of Climate Change, and sees Wayv “leading the way” for the telecommunications industry.
Liam Parnell, customer trust & solutions director at Wayv Talk and Broadband for Business, commented: “The increasing amount of energy required for the movement of data around the world is concerning.
“As this is the market we are operating within, it is right that we take responsibility. This is something our team feels strongly about and have had in the pipeline for a while now. We did, however, want to go beyond being certified as a Carbon Neutral business, and make a greater impact and commitment.
“As a business, we are now providing a ‘Carbon Neutral telecoms and broadband service’ to all of its customers by offsetting our customers’ entire usage. So now, not only do our customers now get fantastic service, but by partnering with us, they will actually be reducing their own footprint and impact on the environment”.
Additionally, each physical handset used by Wayv Talk is supplied by its partner, Ericsson-LG Enterprise.
The equipment manufacturer creates environmentally friendly products, assessing each item in both development and production through a third-party certification institute, to ensure that they are energy efficient and do not contain hazardous substances from any raw materials.
Wayv Talk claims to be “100 per cent dedicated to SMEs across the UK’’. It offers fixed prices for up to seven years, resolves 98.6 per cent of queries within one hour with its “friendly, expert team”, and tailors each communications package to the individual needs of every business.
