Stadium of Light set to host careers event for young job seekers

Young job seekers, anyone looking for a change in career or wanting to up their skills can get all the help they need at an event at the Stadium of Light next week (Wed 12 October). As part of Sunderland Business Festival, dozens of top businesses and training providers have signed up to take part in the Recruitment Fair which runs from 10am until 3pm.

And that means an unmissable opportunity to find out what employment and up skilling opportunities are available across the city and beyond. Leading companies such as Ocado, Hays Travel, Adient Seating,Gentoo and the Army are among the diverse range of organisations which are exhibiting on the day, as well as a number of training providers and colleges.

Visitors will also be able to talk to representatives from businesses taking part in the Tech Talent event which is running alongside the recruitment fair, where companies such as British Esports Federation, Barclays and Tombola are among those represented.

The event is aimed at people of all ages, from school leavers to older people wanting to get back into work or looking at a change of career.

Ellen Thinnesen, chief executive of Education Partnership North East which includes Sunderland College and chair of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership Skills Advisory Panel and of Sunderland Business Partnership which runs Sunderland Business Festival, believes it will be an event not to be missed.

“We are delighted to have attracted such as diverse range of organisations which have so many opportunities to offer to people from across Sunderland,” she said. “This is an unmissable opportunity to come face to face with representatives from a whole host of organisations and to find out what they have to offer.”
