Midlands business provides junior football team with cash injection
A Stratford-upon-Avon junior football team with links to Premier League and Championship clubs has scored a welcome cash injection from a local property consultancy.
Stratford Town Colts Under-10s will be taking to the field this season with a new Nike kit for away matches, which was funded by Rainier Developments who are based in Henley-in-Arden.
The side, which plays in the top tier of the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth League, now has 14 away kits worth around £550 with Rainier Developments’ logo across the middle of the navy-blue shirts, which the team will use for the next two seasons.
James Pritchard, Head Coach of Stratford Town Colts Under-10s, said: “Running a grassroots football team has many overlooked yet significant costs, one of which is providing a good quality kit, so the help we have had from Rainier Developments has made a huge difference and I can’t thank them enough.
“We have a talented group of players here, so much so that we sometimes get invited by Wolverhampton Wanderers and Coventry City to play matches under their watchful eyes, so it’s important that when our players take to the pitch, they feel like they look the part too.
“I’ve been with this team since they were around seven years of age, and after reaching a cup final and a cup semi-final last season, we are looking to push on this season and go one better.”
Richard Mees is the Chief Executive of Rainier Developments, and outlined the importance of the company’s donation to Stratford Town Colts Under-10s, who play their home games on the 3G pitch next to Stratford Town Football Club on Knights Lane.
Richard added: “As a firm we are passionate about having a positive impact on our doorstep and the surrounding areas, and when we heard that Stratford Town Colts Under-10s were seeking sponsorship, we were more than happy to help.
“As a firm we are keen to show our support for grassroots sport as it is a powerful tool for teaching the next generation important transferable life skills – such as team work – which we pride ourselves on.
“Everybody at Rainier Developments would like to wish the team the best of luck for the coming season.”
