Uk’s Leading Logistics Provider – LV Logistics UK – Opens £14million Quayside Facility in Teesside
One of the UK’s leading logistics providers – LV Logistics UK – has this week announced completion of a £14million warehouse facility in Teesside that will add to the company’s already well-established 36-year footprint in the region. With the announcement of this new facility, the logistics provider is expected to continue its growth of 20% achieved year on year for the last three years.
The site, located in Middlesbrough and opposite the town’s football stadium, provides the business with 110,000sqm internal storage and 10 acres external laydown areas for project cargo and vessel agency work.
Speaking about the investment and the opening of the new quayside facility: Matthew Ord, Company Ambassador for LV Logistics UK said: “The opening of our new facility sends out a clear statement about LV Logistics and our ongoing commitment to the region. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s 100-year history and our plans for the business, sending out a very clear statement of intent for the future of LV Logistics in the North East.
“Teesside is riding the crest of a wave with various and significant investments coming into the region. Today sees two of the region’s best positioned companies collaborating to cement this partnership and to act on plans that will see success for the next four, five and six decades here in Teesside.”
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen, who was present to start the proceedings said: “It’s great to be at the launch of this new partnership between LV Logistics and Able UK. This is an example of the great developments continuing on Teesside and demonstrates how the collaboration of local businesses can create fantastic opportunities for local people”.
As part of the opening of the landmark facility, players from Middlesbrough Football Club were there to officially open the site with the cutting of a ribbon. They chatted to guests, stood for photos and signed merchandise.
The warehouse facility – which sits alongside the River Tees at Dock Point – is one of the oldest facilities in that location and prior to the LV Logistics investment, had sat derelict for more than 10 years. The building forms a partnership between Able – landlord of the site – and the LV Logistics UK business.
Speaking about the partnership, Peter Stephenson, Executive Chairman from The Able Group said: “Large scale inward investment is important – and rightly so – but economic success also needs our own local companies to thrive and grow. I would like to think that our two businesses characterise the sort of real home-grown success that will continue to make a real difference. This will also forge an even closer bond between the two companies, who have had a significant Teesside presence for a number of years. We have complementary skills and both care passionately about the place we like to call home.”
LV Logistics has been in Teesside since 1986 and is part of the 100-year-old, family owned, Royal Dutch LV Logistics business. The company specialises in providing logistical services to a range of industries including energy, construction, automotive and retail.
