First look revealed of New Shared Ownership apartments launching in “eclectic” Brixton

Housing association Notting Hill Genesis is bringing new homes for first-time buyers to Brixton with a boutique collection of Shared Ownership one and two-bedroom, open-plan apartments, launching this month.

With just nine homes available, this new development, NINE Brixton, will offer a limited-time opportunity for buyers to secure a new home in an “eclectic neighbourhood” located in Zone 2 with links into central London.

Shared Ownership offers aspiring buyers the opportunity to purchase a share of the home’s value, between 25 per cent and 75 per cent, and pay subsidised rent on the remaining share.

This share can then be increased over time and, with a lower deposit required, the scheme allows buyers to own a new property in one of the capital’s most popular districts with a lower level of savings if they were to purchase the same home outright.

Renowned for its “cultural diversity and strong sense of community”, residents at NINE Brixton will have access to all that the neighbourhood has to offer, from Brixton Village to the Ritzy Cinema on Coldharbour Lane.

Brixton Market offers street food and vintage finds that reflect the area’s Caribbean, African and South American ties. Known also for its live music scene, venues like the O2 Academy Brixton and Electric Brixton welcome “world-renowned” artists, while smaller venues such as The Windmill or Phonox are said to champion up-and-coming creators.

For those seeking green open space, Brockwell Park is a nine-minute walk from the development. One of London’s award-wining parks, residents can enjoy meadows, a walled flower garden and large network of trails, as well as playgrounds, sports pitches, and open-air swimming at Brockwell Lido.

Transport connections from this Zone 2 location make commuting into central London “easy”, with Victoria 15 minutes away, Oxford Circus 21 minutes away, and King’s Cross 24 minutes away via the Victoria line from Brixton Underground station.

Lauren Nicholson, head of marketing and digital at Notting Hill Genesis, commented: “Brixton is an area that prides itself on community, and we’re excited to add to that with our new collection of Shared Ownership homes at NINE.

“The high specification of apartments, fast transport connections and excellent local amenities make the development ideal for young professionals and families currently renting locally, and looking for somewhere to make home.”
