B Corp status awarded to social value experts

Social Value Portal, the leading provider of social value measurement, monitoring and strategic consultancy in the UK has joined a select number of companies from around the world in achieving B Corp accreditation.

Recognised for its commitment to pursuing purpose as well as profit, the organisation is launching an opportunity for small and micro organisations to apply to take part in a free Social Value Accelerator Programme.

The organisation scored 114 out of a possible 200, with scores in excess of average across all assessed sections. The B Impact Assessment is a rigorous application process requiring clear evidence of accountability, transparency and commitment to generating improvement to communities, the environment and society.

The accreditation is expected to aid Social Value Portal as it continues to deliver social value in the UK and abroad.

Guy Battle, CEO, Social Value Portal, said: “Social value is the term used to describe the positive value an organisation creates for individuals and society as a whole so our goals are aligned with those of B Corp accreditation. The minimum score an organisation must achieve is 80, so we are absolutely delighted with our accredited score of 114.

“If we want to promote better business and community wellbeing through the integration of social value into day-to-day business, we must lead by example, which is why we have launched the Social Value Accelerator Programme for Small and Micro Organisations.”

Successful applicants for the accelerator programme will work with Social Value Portal to develop their social value proposition. This will involve free basic membership and advisory services, including the use of the widely recognised National TOMs measurement framework.

They will also benefit from a managed service to support customers and suppliers through measurement, tender responses and contract management as well as accessing data validation and evidencing from the portal.

Companies who earn B Corp certification are required to recertify and improve their score every three years. They are held legally accountable in regard to the impact of their decisions on employees, suppliers, customers, community and the environment. B Corps are also committed to publicly revealing all information regarding their performance measured against B Lab’s standards.

In achieving B Corp status, Social Value Portal will continue to deliver its purpose whilst helping to influence the global economic system, shifting behaviour and culture collectively to address the most critical issues the world faces today.
