As of the 1st September, North East based accountancy & business advice specialists Murray & Lamb is proud to announce and welcome Gillian Brownlee as new Head of Personal Taxation to the team. An incredibly exciting move for the business and rewarding career opportunity for Gillian.

Having spent over 25 years as a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser working at a big 4 accounting firm, Gillian joins the team at Murray & Lamb to expand their offering and enrich the exceptional service already provided to their growing client base. Gillian’s career began in personal tax before delving into trust and estate taxation. So her expertise and specialisms within these areas is vast.

As part of her new role, Gillian’s daily responsibilities as Head of Personal & Trust Tax Services will include :

• Reviewing clients exposure to inheritance tax and advising on tax efficient lifetime gifting solutions including where appropriate the use of trusts
• Dealing with all aspects of trust tax compliance to remove the burden on trustees including trust registration and trust register maintenance, preparation of Self Assessment trust returns and calculation of trust principal and proportionate inheritance tax charges
• Providing advice to trustees around the disposal of trust assets and the tax implications of making distributions to beneficiaries, making best use of any available reliefs.
• Overseeing the existing personal tax service
