Independent London film company upgrades 'vital' equipment with HSBC UK funding
A London-based film production company has acquired new equipment and developed new revenue streams with support from HSBC UK.
I, Firefly Productions has invested in new filmmaking equipment after securing a £10,000 funding package from HSBC UK, allowing the business to reduce leasing costs and improve the quality of the production of films and documentaries.
The purchase of the business’ first piece of owned equipment, a Red Comodo camera, will allow I, Firefly Productions to complete films suitable for streaming services such as Amazon Prime and Netflix without the high cost of leasing high-quality equipment.
The funding has directly impacted the company’s ability to control current and upcoming projects, including a documentary on Richmond Rugby Club, which will be targeted towards Amazon Prime and film festivals for future screening opportunities.
I, Firefly Productions also plans to rent the equipment to other businesses, creating an additional revenue stream of up to £1,000 per hire.
Robyn Fox, founder of I Firefly Productions, said: “I’m extremely grateful for the support from HSBC UK. This deal will be crucial in enabling me to achieve my dreams and ambitions for growing my small production company. HSBC UK has been fantastic at supporting us through this process and allowing us to continue sharing impactful human stories through the films we make.”
Jenni Adams, UK deputy head and regional director South at HSBC UK, added: “HSBC UK is committed to helping independent organisations such as I, Firefly Productions invest in their future and take advantage of opportunities to grow. The new equipment will be vital in ensuring the financial health of the business, enabling it to create films for more lucrative clientele such as the major streaming services.”
I Firefly Productions develops and produces original and innovative feature films, documentaries, and short films focusing on exploring humanity and human nature. I Firefly’s recent film LOLA - a film highlighting the intricacies of drag performance - is currently streaming on Showcase Women in America. A previous documentary about Richmond Rugby Club has also been featured on Sky Sports.
