Start-up Southend launches
Over 20 independent start-ups including candle makers, jewellers and chocolatiers, are joining forces to this winter at Start-up Southend at The Royals Shopping Centre.
The market of independent businesses will run each weekend starting from now until Sunday 18th December (Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm).
The aim of the market is to create a space for shoppers to enjoy and discover local businesses and find unique gifts that both thrill the recipient, and also support Southend’s enterprise.
Dawn Jeakings, Centre Manager explains: “Now more than ever, as we mark the run up to the festive season, we wanted to support our local creative and retail community. We have brought together over 20 small businesses, each offering unique gifts including hand crafted jewellery, personalised artwork and hand-poured candles.
“We’ve transformed the space and it looks great. We know our shoppers will love browsing the stalls and discovering more of what Southend’s independent community has to offer.
“Our goal when we launched this project was to provide support for local independent artisans and businesses by offering them a way to reach new customers, and, in doing so, help bring the community together to shop locally this Christmas and we’re thrilled to see it come to fruition.”
Start-Up Southend is located in the former H&M unit. The market will run each weekend from now until Sunday 18th December (10am to 5pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays).
