Shaftesbury school fireworks event goes off with a ‘bang’ thanks to housebuilder

David Wilson Homes in Dorset made sure a local primary school could have a fireworks night to remember this year, with a generous sponsorship.

The leading housebuilder, which has recently launched its Niveus Walk development in the town, handed over £1,560 to Shaftesbury C of E Primary, to cover the cost of the school’s bonfire night celebrations on Thursday 3rd November.

And, despite some slightly miserable weather on the evening, the night was a huge success. Along with some spectacular fireworks, families were treated to live music, dancing, and a variety of stalls selling food and a selection of glow sticks for the kids.

Rich Mullins, a member of the school’s PTA, which organised the event, said it couldn’t have happened without the support of David Wilson Homes.

He said: “This year, we wanted to give the schoolchildren an event that was bigger and better than ever – and thanks to David Wilson Homes – we were able to do that.

“It may have been raining but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, and it was amazing to see everyone enjoying the fireworks and entertainment on the night. We all made some great memories.”

David Wilson Homes is committed to helping organisations in the communities in which it’s building, and the housebuilder is pleased to have been able to show its support for Shaftesbury CE Primary. Anthony Dimmick, David Wilson Homes Community Liaison Manager, said: “We always want to offer our help to local organisations and I’m thrilled we’ve been able to sponsor such a fantastic evening for local families.

“Well done to the school’s PTA team who went above and beyond to arrange this wonderful event for the local community.”

Shaftesbury CE Primary School is situated on Wincombe Lane and teaches children aged 4-11 in the Dorset town. The school’s PTA team is a Registered Charity, which aims to raise funds for the benefit of the children.

David Wilson Homes is building new homes across Dorset, including at its newly launched Niveus Walk development in Shaftesbury – a new collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes.
