Staffordshire manufacturer to create jobs via seven-figure funding from HSBC UK

A Staffordshire based water filter manufacturer is set for expansion with the support of funding from HSBC UK.

Doulton Water Filters has utilised a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK to add ceramic-based filters to its existing product portfolio. Ceramic-based filters reduce the contamination levels of water, preventing potentially harmful diseases and illnesses, and are a key part of its work to provide a global solution for clean, safe drinking water.

To enable the development of this new range of products, Doulton Water Filters has utilised funding from HSBC UK to secure additional storage facilities.

As a result of the HSBC UK funding package, Doulton Water Filters will increase its factory capacity by 25 per cent, through investing in space maximising equipment, such as new storage management systems, alongside rolling out lean manufacturing initiatives across the business.

In addition, HSBC UK funding will enable Doulton Water Filters to hire an additional five members of staff, across roles including: marketing, buying, digital and product development.

Funding will also be used to implement an automated system for filter processing using robotics, improving efficiency, speed and allowing existing staff to be trained in other areas of the business.

Andy Clark, deputy group CEO at Doulton Water Filters, commented: “We are delighted to expand our business with the hire of five new staff members and introduce our new range of ceramic-based filters to market.

“Funding from HSBC UK will allow us to maintain our company ethos and our aim to be customer focused as we grow. We look forward to welcoming more customers globally and seizing further opportunities to deliver top-quality products worldwide.”

Dean Smith, corporate relationship director at HSBC UK, added: “Doulton Water Filters is a trusted, family-run business with a passion for encouraging sustainable lifestyles through its vast product range.

“We’re pleased to be able to support the business with the expansion of its workforce and product offering. It’s fantastic to see the impact of the business’ commitment to reducing health impacts caused by poor filtration; we look forward to seeing the business grow further into the future.”
