Gateshead retail park secures “fantastic addition” ahead of Christmas

As part of Bdaily’s latest feature, Retail Week, we look to Gateshead, where Retail World, which extends to almost 400,000 sq ft has welcomed The Works as a new tenant on the retail park.

The Works is set to be a “fantastic addition” to Retail World at Team Valley, particularly on this side of Christmas, stocking a range of “affordable books and gifts for all the family”. The store opened its doors to shoppers last Thursday, November 17.

The Works is a family-friendly value retailer of gifts, arts, crafts, toys, books and stationery. It operates 525 stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland, employing 3,800 employees with an ambition to “inspire reading, learning, creativity and play”.

A spokesperson for The Works commented: “We are delighted to be opening a brand new store on the Retail World Retail Park in Gateshead today! Team Valley Retail World is a fantastic location that we have had our eyes on for some time, offering nearly 400,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.

“The new store is located between Superdrug and ScS and is spread across 2,660 sq ft which will provide a fantastic trading space for our customers. At The Works, we aim to inspire reading, learning, creativity and play and our stores play a very important part in this.

“Customers visiting our Retail World store in Gateshead will be able to shop the products they love including Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol and brand-new books by authors such as Richard Osman. We are especially excited to be opening this side of Christmas and we look forward to welcoming new customers from Gateshead and the surrounding areas!”

Helen Ewles, property manager at Avison Young, managing agents of the retail park added.“ We are delighted to welcome The Works to Retail World who will complement the strong range of retailers already represented on the park.“

Retail World has increased positive footfall since the pandemic and the addition of The Works will further enhance the diverse retail offer for visitors to the park.
